 Compress a complete Event  

The 2D Explorer allows you to compress a complete Event directory with the standard "ZIP" compression method. First start the 2D Explorer window. Therefore select the button <Change event> or press <ALT + E>.

Then select the Event directory you want to compress. Now you can start the software module ZipTool in three different ways:

Enter the main menu item "2D Event Tools / Event closing (compressing)".

Open the context menu (right mouse click) and select the menu item "2D Event Tools / Event closing (compressing)".

Press the shortcut keys <SHIFT + C>. You will see the following start window. We have automate the compress operation. It means the user must confirm only one single confirmation dialog. If you press the button <OK> the software automatically compress the selected Event directory. Otherwise press the button <No>. In this case you have the possibility to change some settings - they are:

  • Change the "Source directory (Event)" for compress

  • Change the "Destination directory (Event)". It is the easiest way to copy + compress a Event to another directory in only one step !

  • Maybe check "Delete measurements) after compressing ?"

Compress a complete event directory - step four

The software compress all measurements inside the selected Event automatically. You get for each measurement an single zip archive. The prefix character "M_" in the archive name references a "MES" directory – our new data format. If you compress our old files "PAR" you get the prefix character "F_" Additional you get for each zip archive a single zip logging file in standard text format. You can read these files directly in the "ZipTool" window. Therefore change the file filter from the middle panel at filter "Zip logging files (*.TXT)".

Please note:

After the compress operation is finished you will automatically return to the 2D Explorer window. You can detect an closed (compressed) Event at the following properties:

 

  • The main menu item "Event closing (compressing)" is disabled. If you press the shortcut key <SHIFT + C> you will get the following information message:

  • At the group "Main" in the corresponding Event.ini file you will get the Event status "Event closed" !
